It is entirely possible to get overwhelmed when you are just starting out in internet marketing…you see all the things that you are supposed to do and learn to have successful home based internet marketing businesses and just, sort of freeze up. The best advice I can give you is to just get started-today! Right now! Start building your list…it really isn’t that hard.

Maybe you haven’t decided on the “perfect” idea for your newsletter. Who cares? Start it anyway! You can improve it later! That is really the best way to make progress. Start before it is perfect. Get your domain hosted. Get your website up. Start building your list.

Start with some paid co-registration. We’re not talking thousands of dollars here, guys! Focus on spending maybe $50 to get things up and running…to get the ball rolling.

If you don’t already have your website up-then do it! Follow a proven template. We provide lots of examples. I don’t believe people should spend their time reinventing the wheel! With a good model to follow, you can have a simple website up in just a couple hours. There is really no excuse.

One of the best ways to get a website up quickly is by using WordPress.org…you can use one of their free themes… there are lots of plug-ins so you can customize it. But you don’t have to make it perfect right off the bat! Make it “good enough”…and get it up. The prettiest, most perfect website won’t make you a dime if it isn’t live and available for people to subscribe to!

So, you have a website and basic idea for your ezine…and you have bought some co-registration names to get started. Now focus on list building and improving what you started.

People often ask me if they can build their list by going to a live event in their area, their town, or an industry event. The answer is definitely, yes! This is one of the best ways to build a list!

When you are going to be meeting people in person be sure to have business cards with you. Print some out yourself or get them printed…if you have time you can get some cheap, sometimes even free, online…but if the event is, say tonight (!) you can still get business cards done.

Just like your website and ezine, your business cards don’t have to be perfect! Just be sure they have all the basics…including your website address and that those basics are spelled correctly!  The card can be as simple as your name and a message “Go to this website to learn about ‘blank.'” Look, you can make your card better and more memorable-but it is better to have a simple card then not having any because it wasn’t perfect!

Meet people…introduce yourself…find out what you might have in common with other people there…and give them your card. Ask people to go to your website and opt-in to get your information.

The best tip I can give you…whether you are just starting out or wanting to super charge your list building…is don’t wait for it to be perfect. None of it has to be perfect…in fact, it never will be! Not your ezine, not your website…these are growing and evolving things. So get them out there-right now!
