Ten years ago, it wasn’t possible to watch a video online. Even the fastest dial-up speeds couldn’t allow you to see video without choppy delivery at best. Sometimes, if your connection was really slow, video wouldn’t load at all. But all that’s changed. With the majority of Internet users now on broadband, video is becoming more and more popular every day, and with sites like You Tube, Google Video, Blip TV and many more video directories, it’s become much easier to get into video for Internet marketing purposes.
The first thing you need to get video going for your Internet marketing business is video software. Camtasia is the preferred choice presently, and you can even get an early version of Camtasia for free. This program helps you to record and edit videos so that they come out looking professionally done. If you have a PC, you already have access to Windows Movie Maker, which is not bad, and there are many, many other types of video software that will suit your purpose.
You don’t necessarily need a camera to make videos, either. You can use Microsoft Power Point or Open Office Impress and allow the slides to be your movie. Or, you can use still images, but at some point, you may want to get into the action yourself. What you need is either a digital webcam or a digital camcorder, which come at various price levels. You can probably find a good web cam for about $80, but a camcorder will be much more expensive. Yet if you’re an Internet marketing businessperson, consider this a capital investment.
When editing your video for the Internet marketing audience, it’s important to include your URL in the video. Just let it ride across the bottom of the screen as people are watching your short movie. That way, it’s always in front of their minds. If they enjoy what you’ve taught them, they’ll undoubtedly go to your website to learn more.
When you’re finished editing, it’s time to upload your video. A new site called “Tube Mogul” at http://tubemogul.com allows you to upload your short film to several different sites at the same time. If you’ve ever uploaded a video and know how long it takes, you’ll appreciate this site. It’s also free, which is good, but if you want more sites to upload to or if you want to upload podcasts or to make a slide show presentation, then you can’t beat Traffic Geyser for a great solution.
Video isn’t going away anytime soon. It’s just going to become more and more popular as Web users try to turn their monitors into TVs. We already know that a web user has a short attention span for written material. Why not use a video headline on your Internet marketing sales or squeeze pages? You could find your conversions going through the roof!
