Hack Your Life

Are you one of those folks that has a million ideas, and yet, gets nothing done? Why is that, do you think? You’ll come up with a million excuses to match the million ideas, but what you’re doing is just adding roadblocks to your life. Hack it! Jump in there like a computer hacker and just change the way things are done. Make your life the way you want it to be.

When you’re an online marketer, there are definitely things you can do to help yourself move forward. When you get an idea, the first thing you should do — immediately, without thinking about it — is to go and buy an appropriate domain name. Put some thought into it and get just the right one, but buy that domain name.

Then, the second thing you can do is to announce publicly what you’re going to do with that new domain. When you make a statement in front of your peers, telling them a little about your great idea and what you’re going to do with the new domain name you just bought, you create an emotional onus for yourself. You don’t want to look like a jerk in front of people that matter, so, by telling them what you’re going to do, you have created an obligation for yourself that will help you to follow through.

The next thing you can do is to decide where your log jams are. Are you a technophobe? Hire a programmer. Are you a terrible writer? Get someone to write copy for you. Whatever the tough issue for you is, figure it out, and then, just deal with it. When you relieve yourself of the problems that are keeping you from being successful, the rest just kind of works itself out.

But one of the most important things you can do is to set goals. Just come up with milestones that you need to accomplish to have your plan working. Set specific dates by which to have things done. Create a calendar online and allow it to remind you of what you need to know, or get a big white board and set the dates in big, red letters. Get a desk pad calendar and keep everything right there, under your nose. Or, just use Outloook, but be sure to set specific reminders that will pop up and tell you what needs to be done by when.

And don’t miss the deadlines! Add to their importance by telling people what you’re going to have done when and the obligation to meet your schedule is in place.

There are many more strategies for staying on task, and we discuss many of them in the ListBuilding Club. Our lively discussion forum and regular monthly calls are helpful in setting specific goals and in giving you resources you need to meet them. Visit http://ListFormula.com today and become a member.
