Internet Marketing Strategies – List Building Profitably Offline

If you are thinking about using offline methods to help you with your list building, you may want to consider a few things first. Depending on which method you choose, it could end up being very expensive…or at least more expensive than list building online. First, it is important to know why you are wanting to work offline. If you are sure that you want to add this in to your internet marketing strategies then it is best to start small and test things as you go.

This is really no different than online, you should always be testing and tweaking…but because you will probably spend more money offline, you will want to take it in small steps.

I usually begin with small classified ads in highly targeted publications…and by this I mean…if you are in the dog training niche, put an ad in a magazine that has a large readership and is as specific as possible to what your product is about. So if you are in the dog training niche, a dog magazine is good…a dog training magazine is even better.

You will want to test different ads of course, and you should also test out different “calls to action”. You might try one ad that sends people to a phone number to get more information. Another test would be to drive people to an opt-in page.

Another tip I can give you is to set up a separate domain name for each magazine you are going to put your ad in. If you forward each domain to a unique tracking link, you will know how many people came from that exact ad, and how many opted in to your offer. This is a critical piece in figuring out what is worth paying for and what is not.

You want to make sure that whatever your call to action is, that you keep it to the fewest possible number of steps…don’t make your prospective customers or subscribers jump through hoops to get the information they are looking for. For instance, if you have them call a phone number, don’t tell them in your message that they have to go to your website…that is just an extra step that most people won’t bother to do.

Focus on giving them what they want…quickly…and at the same time, collecting the information that you want from them…quickly. If you do this you will have much better results in terms of list building, and you will be able to use offline advertising as one of your more profitable internet marketing strategies.
