Email marketing can be very useful for promoting your online business. It is a challenging skill and it is easy to make mistakes. If these mistakes are made, it can cost your online business money. Plus, ineffective email marketing doesn’t make any money either. Here are some common email marketing mistakes and solutions. It will make your marketing strategies more effective and your online business more successful.
Mistake #1: Lack of Personal Interaction
Solution #1: Consumers want to feel like they are a person to your online business, not just a statistic. Take the time to address each email by name. This makes the interaction very personable and your consumer is much more likely to react positively to your offer. With autoresponder technology such as Aweber, it’s very easy and inexpensive to do. Most autoresponder have a one-click option that you can choose that will automatically insert your subscribers’ first name. If you use this, you will get a much better response then something addressed to “Dear Customer”.
Mistake #2: Losing Your Reader’s Attention:
Solution #2: Customers are flooded with emails and yours won’t stand out unless you intentionally capture their attention. People are too busy and stressed to relax and read email that is not personal. Consumers don’t have a lot of patience! Your email marketing message needs to jump out at them the moment they open it. Put the most enticing information first with the other details further down. They are more likely to read the entire email message if you get their attention from the start. This starts with the subject line!
Mistake #3: Bad Email Appearance
Solution #3: As each consumer is different, so is their computer set up and the type of program they use to open and read their email. Don’t assume the email will open up the same in every type of email service. A good rule of thumb is to always send a test email out first to make sure everything is correct and intact. You can even set up 3 different email accounts for yourself in 3 different email clients and test the email appearance in each. You will never have % 100 perfect appearances in every email program, but this will increase your percentage.
