24 Great Niche Design Ideas

Are you stuck in an “I don’t know what to do” rut? All that seems to be going on around you are gurus promoting this and that product about how to make money online. So, you’re probably thinking it’s the thing to do. The truth is; it’s probably not.

The competition is ferocious! And there are people in the make money online niche that have huge lists, have been around for several years, and whose sites undoubtedly show up in the search engines in high positions. Why create a business where you’re always going to be trudging uphill?

Instead, it’s smarter to pick a niche that has money in it, a niche you can enjoy, and a niche that isn’t so competitive.

The first thing you should do is a little keyword research to be sure that people are searching for your idea. Here are 24 niches where you can build a business online (in no particular order):

  1. golf
  2. dating
  3. weight loss
  4. credit repair
  5. pet training
  6. divorce
  7. video gaming
  8. stop smoking
  9. big screen TVs
  10. computers and computer accessories
  11. memorabilia
  12. real estate
  13. muscle building
  14. photography
  15. ebay sales
  16. health supplements
  17. sports equipment
  18. books
  19. meeting men/women
  20. mortgages
  21. handheld electronics
  22. cell phones
  23. office supplies
  24. jewelry

These are general descriptions. Do further keyword research to target a better focus. For example, if you select a niche like “golf shoes,” there are still a million people searching for the term every month, but it’s less competitive than the general term “golf” which has one hundred times the amount of searches. You can bet that the big companies are paying huge fees to have their pages rank first in search.

Choosing a niche doesn’t have to be hard. Just think of something you like to do and then see if enough people are looking for the term online. You should see at least 100,000 people searching for the generic term, and then, narrow your focus. The narrower market should have at least 30,000 people a month searching for the term. Then, you have a better chance of ranking for keywords that are relevant to your market and can get some very targeted traffic from search engines to help you make your site sell.

Choosing a niche shouldn’t stunt your online business growth. Just pick something and do it because you have to start somewhere and learn everything there is to know about online marketing. If you never learn, you’ll never make any money, and that’s undoubtedly your goal.
