List Building Using Super Responsive Squeeze Pages

Landing page, opt-in page, squeeze page…they are all the same thing. Different people call them different things…I usually use the term squeeze page. The goal of a squeeze page is list building. Basically what it does is capture information about a visitor to your page. You drive traffic to the page, and have an offer…something of value that your visitor would want. In exchange for your gift or report, your visitor fills in their information. Boom…they are on your list.

Here are three tips to build super responsive squeeze pages.

Tip 1: Testing

One thing about squeeze pages that a lot of people don’t do is testing. A squeeze page is really, really easy to put up, but you want to make sure you are testing different things to get the most response out of your page. An obvious place to start is with the headline. The difference between the response to one headline over another can be HUGE and can be the difference between making a little bit of money and a whole ton of money.

You will want to start split-testing your pages, and this can be a really simple process if you use the tools that come with your AWeber or 1Shopping Cart account. You can also use Marketing Makeover Generator, or Ad Trackz, both work really well and are pretty inexpensive and easy to learn.

Tip 2: Use bullet points

Tip number two for building a very responsive page is to use bullet points. You should make each bullet point a very short statement about the benefit someone will get if they sign up for whatever it is you are offering. Make sure you don’t have huge long list of 10 or 12, you really only need 6 or 7. Also, keep this in mind…don’t put a lot of space between each point. What I have found is that when I have my bullet points really close together, people can read through them much faster and so they get to learn about ALL of the benefits I am offering them. This increases the opt-in rate. More info, more benefits, more opt-ins.

Tip 3: Be above the fold

And finally, try to keep your key benefits “above the fold”.  What do I mean by this? Well, you want your information to be on the screen in front of your visitor without them having to scroll down to read everything. If possible, you should try to have your opt-in box above the fold as well, although this can be tricky, especially if you have seven bullet points. Think about it like this…the easier it is for people to “get” what you are offering, the more likely they will be to fill in your form, and the more people you will get signed up to your list…pretty simple.

No matter what you call them, the squeeze page is the tool for list building. To maximize your results follow these three simple tips to build a super responsive squeeze page.

So, you’ve started building your list. Your super-tested list building squeeze page is working for you. I mean, you’ve tested your headline, your bullets, maybe even your picture, and you’re getting sign-ups. But you aren’t getting them fast enough.

Where are some other places that you can put your opt-in box?

The obvious place to think of list building is on the homepage of your website–right on top of everything else. Give people a place to opt-in to your list. If you have a newsletter, offer people free subscriptions and BAM! Put that opt-in box right at the top of your page.

How about putting an opt-in box on your blog or in your profile at MySpace? It’s easy. Just go to “edit profile,” which is right beside your picture, at the top of your homepage. Then, get the code from your autoresponder and feed it right into one of your profile boxes.

You can also put that opt-in box at the top of your blog. If you aren’t technical, get someone to do it for you. You can hire programmers pretty reasonably at eLance.com, for instance. Just pay them to put your list building box right at the very top of all of your blogs.

If you’re selling a product, you can use a pop-up on the thank you page (on which you’re selling a back-end product, I hope), offering a free subscription to your newsletter. They’re easy to make on AWeber. But if you can’t do that, just put an opt-in box right on the thank you page.

If you do a teleseminar with someone, offer your newsletter and autoresponder address to listeners.

Any of these ways is great for list building. Just remember to keep your form simple. All you should ask for is name and email address. Anything else will make people stop and think about giving out personal information. You want to make sign-up as painless as possible for people.

But the best list building tool is viral. If you provide quality content, people that like you and your style will tell other people, who will tell others, and so on. You aren’t just list building, you’re reputation building. Be sure to offer only solid information and then, tested and quality products, and your list will grow faster.

Disabled Veterans Teleseminar Training Series | Internet Marketing – An Opt-In Box by Any Other Name?

Are your squeeze pages up to snuff? I mean, do you have a killer headline? What about a compelling image? Some knock-out bullet points? OK. Great! You’re almost there. But what about that all-important opt-in box? Did you think a little about it before creating it, too? It’s a very important facet of any Internet marketing squeeze page, and there are some things to consider.

The first thing you need to realize is that the more information you ask for from people, the less likely it is that you’ll get it. People are leery of intrusive questions, especially if they’ve been in Internet marketing for a while, and if you ask for more than just name and email address, you’re probably going to get far fewer sign-ups than you would by asking only for the bare minimum. If you add a free special report or ebook or something to give away, then watch your opt-in rates increase. If you give away something of value, people will give you at least their first name and email address just to get it.

Also think about your “call to action” button. The autoresponder default in Internet marketing is “submit,” so unless you make the conscious effort to change it, that’s what it will read. Do you like to submit to anything? Probably not. So, why would people want to submit to you? Not a terribly exciting prospect, right? OK, so change that button to something like “Free Instant Access” or “Claim Your Free Subscription,” anything that will get people in the mood to click.

And lastly, where will you put your opt-in box? On a web page or blog, the top of the page is the best place. But with a squeeze page, you want people to see the benefit of opting in, right? So, the box should go below the bullet points. Keeping all of it above the fold (so people don’t have to scroll down to see it) is another good idea. Internet marketing people don’t have a lot of time, so they’ll scan and if they have to scroll down very much, they might leave. Putting your opt-in box where they can see all the information and what they’re getting is a good idea. If you have too much information in the body of your squeeze page and are handy with HTML, you could use a table and put the bullet points and opt-in box in two columns. That way, you’ll keep the opt-in box above the fold.

What’s the object of a squeeze page in Internet marketing? It’s getting people to give their information to you so that you can get them onto your mailing list. Of course, once they’re on your list, you treat them very well by providing great content and only offers that you have tested and found valuable yourself. But to get that first contact, you have to ask them for limited information, jazz up your opt-in button, and put it on the page where it will be seen. If you can do these things, your list will build faster, and start working your income toward the roof.

List Building | Squint

Rick Here!

List Building | Squint

Writing articles is one way to get people to come to the squeeze page you’ve created for gathering names and email addresses.

You may think, “I’m no writer,” but you might fool yourself. Writing articles about your niche is an incredible list building tool, and if you aren’t writing some articles or at least paying someone to write them for you, you’re missing out on a whole lot of traffic.

To start, what niche are you list building around? That should be your topic. Yet, if you’re list building around golf, for instance, how broad a topic is that? Pretty wide open, there, I’d say. So, you need to focus. Come up with one aspect of “golf,” and write about that.

Before you go on, pull out a piece of paper right now. At the top of the paper, I want to write your list building target, which will be your niche. Let’s stick to the golf example. So, you’ll write “GOLF” in the middle of your page.

Now, how many things can you think about that pertain to golf? Golf clubs, shoes, tees, and carts. Then, you may have country clubs, courses, and ideal days to golf. You may also want to add golfing books, golf videos, and golf shows on TV. You see those are all smaller, more narrow focuses. Write each one on the paper surrounding your main term and draw lines from the central word, GOLF, to each of the narrower topics.

But you aren’t finished, though think about it: You’ve really been list building around all those things.

Let’s just take one of those categories, like golf clubs. How many different kinds are there… drivers, wedges, putters, etc. Right? So, from your “clubs” entry, make ray lines and put those at the ends.

But you aren’t finished…

Now, you can start to narrow even further. How about putter manufacturers, materials, sizes or whatever. I bet you can think of even more.

Probably, you’re at the article writing stage. Write the best article that you can, based on titanium golf putters. Bam! You have a narrow enough focus, and you’re no longer overwhelmed.

Regardless of your list building focus, you can take this idea and use it. You can download mind map software and use it. Or, you can keep working your ideas out on paper. Whatever you use, I’ll bet you come away with not just one idea, but at least 10 good ideas for writing articles about.

Internet Marketing – Who Cares About Opt-In Boxes?

Rick here!

Should you use a Opt-In Boxes?

Enjoy!

Second, think about your “call to action” button. Unless you change it, it will default to “submit.” Not terribly exciting is it? In fact, if you really think about it, nobody wants to submit to anything. You’re hurting yourself, if you leave it that way. Change it to something like “Click Here for More Information,” or “Instant Access” to that free special report. When you have something a little more thrilling, watch your opt-in rates soar. That one small Internet marketing trick will give you so much more power.

Also consider where to place the opt-in box on your page. With regular web pages or blogs, the top of the page is always best, but with a squeeze page, you want people to read the benefits of getting onto your list. So, you want the opt-in box just below the bullet points. Or, if you’re HTML handy, you might want to put everything into a table with two columns. Why? Because when you do that, you’re probably keeping the page “above the fold.” It means that people won’t have to scroll down to see the information. You may even want more than one opt-in box, if your squeeze page is very long and unless you have a very good reason for making it longer, then, you won’t need two boxes, but it can be done and has been done before in the Internet marketing world. For example, if you’re holding a teleseminar series and you have a long list of people to describe, you might want more than one opt-in box. There are only a few exceptions. Generally, it’s best to keep your squeeze page simple and tight.

What’s the object of a squeeze page in Internet marketing? It’s getting people to give their information to you so that you can get them onto your mailing list. Of course, once they’re on your list, you treat them very well by providing great content and only offers that you have tested and found valuable yourself.
