When you tell your friends and family that you’re trying to make money online, do they sneer at you and mention that you’re going to the “dark side”? Do they laugh and call you a “spammer”? Do they tell you that you’ll never make a dime online, and to give up before you waste your time and money? Those are some of the more common responses when you admit to trying to create a business online, and here’s the deal… you can’t let that bother you.

In the scheme of things, the Internet is still relatively new, especially when it comes to business. And when you think about the majority of people online, you’re talking people who read email and maybe a newspaper or two. They surf, they play games, and generally just see the Internet as a place to hang out — by themselves or with others in chat rooms and forums. That’s cool, but they’re not seeing the Internet for what it really is… a great place to do business.

Don’t misunderstand. There are sleazy, scamming people on the Internet who want to take your money and give you nothing of value in return. Yet, there is a group of honest business people who are teaching other people how to make money because they have made tons of money themselves.

This is the Gold Rush time. It won’t last forever, but for now, be glad that the rest of the population is clueless. They don’t understand the principles of lead generation, of bonding with an audience, and of selling people stuff that they want to buy. All they see are commercials on television from the FTC, warning them not to be scammed, which is also cool, but outsiders generally tend to take what they see at face value.

So, here’s the thing: If you want to get in on the Gold Rush that’s been happening over the past ten years or so, you need to take action! Stop listening to the naysayers. They’ll shut up quick enough when you show them that your bank account has grown. It’s amazing at how quickly they’ll become believers, and support you 100%.

Today, you need to start concentrating on lead generation and building that list of hungry subscribers in a niche that you love. Give them cool information about your niche. Address the problems that people in that niche are having, and sell them products that solve those problems. When you break it down, it really is that simple.
