Your Brain Loves to Screw You

It’s true. Your brain will play lots of tricks on you, especially if you’re just starting out and trying to grow a business from scratch. You’ll be wondering where to start, who to listen to, and how to make it work the best in the fastest way possible. You want money. You may NEED money, but the bottom line is… sometimes you have to ignore your brain.

Let’s talk about lead generation, for example. You’ll argue with yourself about what to offer people for signing up for your list. Should it be a.pdf, an audio, or a video? Which has the best opt-in rates? Does it matter? The time you spent trying to do just the right thing keeps you from doing anything at all! Just do something and get your lead generation system going.

And then, once you have a list started, don’t let your brain get all statistically occupied. What’s your open rate on your emails? What’s the click-through rate for your links? If you have only a list of 1,000 people, does that really matter? NO! You don’t have enough people to decide whether what you’re doing is good or bad. You need 10,000 people on your list to start thinking about those things and the best thing you can do, the most important thing you can concentrate on is lead generation. Just get leads in any way you can.

The fastest way to do that is by holding teleseminars. You offer a free call about a great topic and bingo! People sign up. If you can interview and expert, all the better. You’ll be creating a great audio that you can give away, which will solve the first problem of deciding what to give away for lead generation purposes. Give them that!

But don’t spend all your time analyzing why you aren’t making money, why your business isn’t working, and if what you’re doing are the right things. It doesn’t matter. Every day that you take a step to do something, anything at all, you’re getting closer to your goals.

Setting up lead generation is really a simple system. If you learn the basics, you’ll be creating a solid business online, and be on your way to earning the money you need. If you want to learn our simple system in step-by-step, over-the-shoulder video that teaches you how to make it all work, you should visit the ListBuilding Club at http://ListFormula.com and become a member.

I Can’t Get Traffic to My Blog

Well, why not? Maybe you think you have the best looking blog going, and if you took a lot of time putting it together, you’re probably motivated enough to post to it every day, too. So, where is everybody?

You could be going about it the wrong way. These few tips may help:

Give People What They Want to Read About

You don’t need to be the greatest writer in the world to have a great blog. What do people want when searching? They want information or they want to be entertained, right? That’s what you need to write, and hopefully, if you have the talent, a little of both. People really only care that what you write is readable and that it’s as truthful as possible. They want to feel as if it came from your heart. That’s what you need to give them! The best blogs are written by people who really and truly care about their topics. It just shows.

But if you really and truly stink at writing, or maybe English isn’t your first language and you have trouble writing. Then, you can still have a great blog. Search the Internet for interesting things, and when you find them post them to your blog in pictures, podcasts, videos, etc. Then, just write a blurb around it to introduce it or whatever, and people will enjoy it. I mean, look at a blog like Boing Boing (http://boingboing.net) and you’ll see what I mean.

Remember… Your Readers Are People

In the past, online marketers took that whole keyword density issue to its limit. They took their main keyword and just plugged it in as many times as they could to get ranking with the search engines. Guess what? It worked. Guess what? It doesn’t any more. Why? Because search engines want their results to be people-oriented. They want people who click on their results to get good information, not unreadable drivel written by attention-hungry idiots who don’t have a clue about how to care for the people who read what they have written. Always write with your audience in mind.

Find a Purpose

Do you think I give a hoot about what you had for breakfast this morning? No, and neither will anyone else, unless they’re in the breakfast cereal business. If you only want people from that industry to read your blog, then that’s something to post. Otherwise, it’s just boring drivel. Write what you’re passionate about. If it’s driving, write a blog about cars. If it’s snowboarding, write a blog about snowboards, and really let your emotion show. People come to your blog looking for something to do or something to learn. If you give them neither one, they’ll probably never read your blog again.

Spill Some Guts

Yep. When you’re blogging it’s important to tell people a little bit about yourself. They want to know you through your blog, and if you give them some personal information, it will be very well received. Tell them about that time you went fishing on Lake Erie and it was a complete fiasco, or that time you won the lottery and couldn’t find the ticket, or whatever. Just be sure to let them know you, even if only a little. It makes you human, someone that people can relate to and hopefully enjoy.

Stop Trying to Sell Things

If you read my blog, it’s no doubt that you’re an Internet Marketer, too. But if I can give you one good piece of advice here, it’s that you shouldn’t be posting with the idea of making a sale–ever. If you read my blog often, you know that I rarely post any kind of sales pitch. I have a blog because I want to give people information to help them succeed online as I’ve been lucky enough to do myself. Sure, I have links to my products on the side of my blog, and usually, I have a bit of anchor text at the end of every post that leads to one of my products, but overall, I’m just trying to provide information about something I’m very passionate about. When you post nothing but sales pitches, you won’t have many readers.

I hope these few tips will be of value to you. Your readers are people, not nebulous electrons in cyberspace. they want to learn and they want to be entertained. If you can do both, you’ll have readers lined up. Avoid the easy traps that will limit your progress. Come up with a blog that people will enjoy and you’ll have traffic enough for a lifetime.

Are You Smarter Than a 1954 8th Grader?

Something is happening in the U. S. public education system. Kids just aren’t getting the same level of education as they did, say in 1954. Back then, kids learned what the amendments to the constitution were and they memorized its preamble. Now, kids are learning less, and nobody understands why they don’t know much about citizenship and history. Could it be that they’re taking the easy road and not pursuing education outside the classroom for themselves?

The same thing happens in Internet marketing. Lots of so-called “gurus” are out there preaching, “You don’t need a website,” “You can earn money while you’re sleeping,” and that “It’s so easy!” that people don’t even know what the right thing to do is or how hard they have to try to become successful.

First, you definitely need a website. Why? Because you need to build a list. Without a list of people who you bond with and build a relationship with, you have nobody to sell things to. You need, at minimum, a hosting account where you can upload your squeeze page, and you need an autoresponder where you house the names and email addresses for the people on your list.

Second, you can earn money while you’re sleeping, but you have to do a whole lot of hard work to get to that point before it actually happens. You need to learn how to drive traffic in all its forms so that you can grow your list bigger and bigger all the time. That takes work.

Third, it’s not rocket science, but it’s not all that easy, either. You need to learn how to do things like buying a domain, transferring the DNS, and setting up everything just to get to the point of starting any lead generation. Then, you have to learn blogging, article marketing, search engine optimization, and all the other techniques that you can use to send traffic to build your list. It takes time and effort.

The bottom line is that you have to think of yourself as a 1954 8th grader, and not a 2009 8th grader. You have to get to the root of Internet marketing and learn the fundamentals of lead generation and traffic. You have to spend time, money, and effort in order for the money to come rolling in. We can help with that. At the ListBuilding Club, we have all the education you need on step-by-step, look over-the-shoulder video that cuts your learning time in half. Visit http://ListFormula.com and see how you can become a member today.

Disabled Veterans Teleseminar | Lead Generation on a Massive Scale Takes Focus

Lead Generation on a Massive Scale Takes Focus

The first thing that new marketers have to concentrate on doing is building a list. Lead generation is the absolute prime directive. Why? Because without a list of people who know, like, and trust you, you won’t get very far online. It’s a big, scary place for most newbies, and they hear so much from so many that they’re afraid to make the wrong purchase. So, it’s important to build your own army of interested buyers and to work with them until your credibility and trustworthiness is established.

But, in reality lead generation always needs to be a central focus. There’s so much going on out in cyberspace, and so much in the Internet marketing community that it’s hard to keep that focus and not be distracted away from it.

How can you do it?

The first idea is to just get a big whiteboard. Write the things you need to accomplish on it: Buy a domain, set up an autoresponder, build a squeeze page, come up with an ethical bribe, send traffic.

Then, break down what needs breaking down. For example. For the squeeze page, you’ll need to write copy, create a web form at the autoresponder, and upload the page to your hosting account. Each piece of the puzzle can be broken down into smaller chunks.

When you look at all you have written down, you might be overwhelmed. It might look like a whole bunch of stuff to do, and you may not know where you want to start. That’s easy. Just pick one thing and do that. Just pick anything, and focus on that one part of the puzzle.

Before you know it, the whole puzzle begins to take shape. You will have the project completed and be building a list. This is all you need to do when you’re first starting out, after picking a niche, of course. But lead generation isn’t something you can afford to put off. Just follow the advice above and make it happen.

Nothing should stop you from getting your lead generation system up and running. Focus is one element of accomplishing that important goal. If you want to learn all the how-tos and find great support you should consider The ListBuilding Club. Not only do we help you to focus, we teach you all the parts of the puzzle, step-by-step on video. Visit http://ListFormula.com and see how the ListBuilding Club can help you!

Teleseminar | Successful Ezine Advertising For Home Based Internet Marketing Businesses

Successful Ezine Advertising For Home Based Internet Marketing Businesses

If you want to get traffic for your home based internet marketing businesses by using ezine advertising then you are going to want to follow some simple, but extremely important tips. Ezine advertising is an awesome way to get targeted traffic, as long as you take a little time up front and make sure you are selecting the right ezines to advertise in.

The very first step should be obvious, but you have got to know the audience you are targeting. If you haven’t figured that out yet, stop before you spend a dime on ANY kind of advertising…before you spend more TIME…you have to know what your niche is and who you want on your list. Until you do, you really don’t have a business.

Once you have your target audience identified, then you can start researching some ezines.

The very first thing is to figure out the readership of the ezine. Is there a good “message to market” match? By that I mean, are the readers of the ezine likely to be interested in what you are offering? The better the match, the better chance you will have at having a successful advertising campaign. Find the best message to market match that you can.

This is more than just the actual product…it also includes a style match…if you are in the dog training niche and your focus is on training companion animals then an ezine that focuses on training attack dogs is probably not the best fit…and if you look at the style of the ezine I’m willing to bet that there wouldn’t be a lot in common with your site. Make sense?

Talk to the publisher. Find out how big the newsletter list is. Find out how responsive the list is! Those two pieces, together, will tell you a lot about whether or not this will be a profitable relationship.

In addition you want to know the kind of offers that have worked in the past. If your offer is similar to ones that have been successful then that is a really good indicator yours might be, too. On the other hand, if yours is more similar to ones that have bombed, that is a good indicator you would be better off looking elsewhere!

Another thing I like to know is the relationship the publisher (the person who puts out the ezine) has with the subscribers. Does the publisher relate to the list? Or is the newsletter just a bunch of ads that are sent out? Is there any other communication between the publisher and the list? Is there a method for subscribers to communicate back with the publisher…is the communication two-way or one-way. This helps me to know if the list is more likely to act upon the recommendations of the publisher.

Study past issues of the ezine. Are there advertisers who are repeating the same ad several issues in a row? The more frequently you see repeat ads and repeat advertisers, the better the indication is they are making money from the ad.

Talk to some advertisers. Ask about their experiences with that ezine.

Advertising in ezines can be a great way for home based internet marketing businesses to get targeted traffic. Be sure to take a little time, follow these guidelines and do some homework and you can successfully be advertising in ezines, growing your list and your revenue!
